Edible Insect Biscuit – Baking with Roasted Crickets and Mealworms

This Thanksgiving, our Cricket Flours team wanted to come up with a new recipe we could all share around the table with our family.  We have been working on some new products, but it is always fun to share new dishes and recipes with our friends and family.  So we decided to put together an edible insect biscuit recipe that featured 4 different products in one.

We were able to combine our All Purpose Baking Flour, Cricket Salt, Roasted Crickets and new Roasted Mealworms (available on Amazon) all in one delicious biscuit.  We placed all of the ingredients and directions below, but let us know if you have any questions and we can’t wait for you to share this recipe with your own families.  Enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 cups Cricket Flours: All Purpose Baking Flour
1 tsp Cricket Salt
1/2 cup cold butter
3/4 cup coconut milk
3 tbsp Roasted Mealworms (Available on Amazon)
3 tbsp Roasted Crickets

Directions:

  • In a mixing bowl combine all dry ingredients.  Using a fork, rake and fork in butter into the mix.  Once butter has been added, slowly mix in the coconut milk using the fork.
  • On a breaded board spread out the dough and knead to 1/3 inches thick and begin cutting out biscuits using a cookie cutter or mason jar to form each biscuit.
  • Place on a baking sheet and set in the refrigerator to cool for 15-20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 450.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy!
