The Ketogenic Diet or Keto Diet is a focus on tuning your food intake to a low-carb, and a low-carb high fat diet. Because the body reduces the intake of high carbs the body will produce lower amounts of glucose and insulin, and keytones are created and used for energy.
The difficulty for many people is removing our society’s high carb foods, to replace them with a diet high in fats. The goal is to reach a state of metabolic activity referred to as ketosis. After starting a Ketogenic Diet, ketosis can take anywhere from 3-10 days. While Keto diets are often used for weight loss, controlling blood sugar, epilepsy and more but remember to always do your research and consult with a physician before starting.
